I talk to you with a book

"Reading is going towards something that is about to be

and no one yet knows what it will be."

                                                         Italo Calvino

Reading books allows us to learn, discover, reflect, dream, and fantasise. We always approach reading with a different perspective and intention. When we choose a book, we look for something in the text that raises questions, provides answers, and stirs emotions within us.

Children and books.

From a young age, it is important to encourage children to read. When we read a story to children, we are conveying a message that helps them discover, understand, and find answers to their own questions.

When children read a story, they always do it with great curiosity. Even if that story has been read over and over again, it always seems like the first time. It's wonderful to watch children look at the images and listen to the words, continually changing perspective, and being careful not to miss any detail of that text. They are always curious and spontaneous, pushing them to want to know even more. They start by asking through body gestures at a young age and later using language with a confident voice, saying, "Again!" This request may sometimes surprise us because it seems unusual to reread a book we have just finished. The child expresses the desire to see the same images again and listen to the same words. At that moment, the children propose possibilities such as "let's stay together a little longer," "I really liked it," and "I want to know everything about this book." The pleasure of rereading contains many meanings that we must collaborate on. I'm sure you will agree that it is a beautiful proposal that should be welcomed with joy and enthusiasm.

The Benefits of Reading.

Reading a book with children is a special moment. Sitting closely together, we leaf through the pages and look at the same pictures while listening to the same sentences, creating a time that becomes solely ours. It's a moment when we share a story that makes us laugh, learn, and discover. Reading should be a part of our daily routine. It enables us to cultivate a special emotional bond and allows children to develop better concentration and attention. Reading promotes language and listening skills, stimulates curiosity and thinking ability, and helps children understand emotions. The benefits of reading are numerous, fostering stronger parent-child relationships and supporting children's cognitive and emotional development.

A story not to be "missed".

Reading provides an opportunity to share an emotional experience. When we read with children, we immerse ourselves in a world of words and sounds that convey ideas, thoughts, and reflections. Books can offer great support in various situations we encounter with children and help them understand abstract concepts through graphical representations alongside words.

The book is a valuable tool that uses illustrations to bring words to life and support thoughts and concepts. Consider when children begin learning animal sounds or object names, or when you decide to take away the pacifier or nappy. Reading a book can help address many important issues in addittion to our actions. Within a story, we can find support, advice, and strategies, fostering complicity.

Reading is an emotional experience that is intertwined with knowledge. Each book tells a story, and we choose how to be part of it through the sensations it communicates to us. Could this be the reason why children read and reread the same story, finding pleasure in perceiving all the perspectives of a narrative?..

Reading tips..

Dear Parents, I would like to recommend a book entitled: “Dodo let's go to Nursery”, available in Italian and English.

A book discussing care, love, emotions, and feelings, meant for both children and parents. It empathetically recounts the delicate experience of settling into the nursery. The story speaks with simplicity, tenderness, and attention to its readers, describing the various stages of this journey and proposing a new routine.

A book that is aimed directly at parents and children to address this important and delicate passage, looking at change as a phase of discovery, knowledge, and awareness to build secure attachment. The story reassures both parents and children, attributing the right value to emotions for the well-being of the family at the nursery.
